A Taste of
Deception

A sampling of eight pieces of ESP,
Legerdemain & HauntedMagick from
The Deceptions Unlimited Catalog

This 44-page manuscript is an unusual sampling of material for those that may not really be familiar with all of the work of Rick Maue, or with the entire Deceptions Unlimited product line.

However, by no means should this be considered a “greatest hits” or “best of” collection. (In fact, if this was a music CD, it would probably be described as containing some underground hits, a few rare album tracks and several older B-sides.) Simply put, the goal of this release is not to be an introduction to the more popular pieces in the Deceptions Unlimited catalog (such as FATE, The Journey, The Final Picture, Terasabos, and others), but instead to cover a wide variety of topics and genres—and even to revisit a few older performance pieces that have not been in print for a while, but they certainly have stood the test of time.

A Taste of Deception contains a touch of HauntedMagick; a dash of mentalism; and also a nice smattering of standard magic. And everything is sprinkled with a tiny taste of “theory” just to add an extra hint of spice. One thing is for sure, the selection of material is certainly eclectic.

Here are the eight items that are included:

From The Book Of HauntedMagick:
Drawn Together
– A strong piece of stand-up mentalism that packs flat, and certainly plays big
Beyond The Witching Hour
– A wonderful performance piece with a very versatile method
Predetermined –An eerie Tarot effect that can also be modified into a piece with playing cards

From the out-of print release, The Occam’s Magic Sampler:
Card From Wallet
– A solid mentalism version of card-to-wallet that fries layman & performers

From the out-of print release, And Then There Was One:
And Then There Was One
– A diabolical stand-up card piece for magicians and mentalists alike

 From PsiWave:
StarStruck
– No props, no gimmicks, no moves, in fact, almost no method—just pure mentalism

From the out-of print lecture notes, Theatrical Deception:
Ashes From The Palm
– A very bizarre twist on Ashes on the Palm

And a previously unreleased lecture item:
No-Palm Card To Pocket – An old standard from Rick Maue’s strolling days—back in the 1970’s
